Udder hygiene and care
According to investigations, increased cell counts of 225,000 cells are the cause of 1kg of milk loss per cow per day. Udder diseases are the cause, every year, of milk loss, high wastage rates, reduction in quality and increased veterinary costs thus adding to the financial losses of the cultivators. The German Veterinary Association estimates that costs amount up to 300 Euros per cow and year and they are often underestimated by the dairy farmers. Likewise, the higher workload of the cultivator or milker due to the longer milking hours are not to be ignored. The main reason for premature withdrawal of cows from the herd are still udder diseases.
